Review: Rellik by Teresa Mummert

Title: Rellik
Author: Teresa Mummert
Genre: Erotic Romance
Type: Standalone
POV: First Person – Dual
Rating:

Rellik Bently is to die for, unfortunately the story is not.

Rellik was a singer from a rock band who one night crossed path with Ella, a down and out teenager with a secret. It turned out she wasn’t the only one with a secret.

The story was a fast read but everything just seemed superficial. Earlier part of the book was a bit confusing about how they met. Even though they met SPOILER> by accident, it was suggested they “researched” <SPOILER each others before but it wasn’t elaborated.

And when things started being revealed, they were also not properly elaborated. Some things that happened just didn’t make sense or ridiculous. For example when they first SPOILER> slept together, she let him went bare <SPOILER knowing what happened backstage after show with whores throwing themselves at him. I mean eww… She also asked him for a ridiculous favor (considering they hardly knew each other) like it was no big deal. Then when he actually delivered it, she thought he was the devil incarnate.

I didn’t feel the chemistry between Rellik and Ella. They looked more like brother and sister than lovers to me.

I do like his band members because they’re all as messed up in their own personal way and didn’t expect them to have met each other the way they did.

Rellik was pretty hot, but he can be all over the place. One moment her was sexy and swoony, the next he seemed like he overdosed on some kind of meds. Ella, she went through some bad things growing up, but she wasn’t whiny about it.

Overall, this story had a dark gritty undertone and would have been the kind of story I’d go for, but it didn’t deliver enough to pack a punch.
