ARC Review: Hills of Shivers and Shadows by Pam Godwin

Title: Hills of Shivers and Shadows
Author: Pam Godwin
Genre: Dark Romantic Suspense
Type: Book 1 of 3 from Frozen Fate series
POV: First Person – Multiple

Abducted and taken to a remote cabin in Alaska, Frankie finds herself at the mercy of four feral men, each with his own dark secrets and twisted desires.
With nowhere to run, she must rely on her wits to survive the harsh winter, trapped with them.
As she delves into their mysterious pasts, she uncovers an insidious evil that feeds on loyalty and uses love as a weapon.
Nothing is as it seems.
In this desolate world where the monsters are as beautiful as they are cruel, trust is elusive. They torment her, protect her, and keep her in the dark.
But to have any chance of escape, they must stand together.
Or fall prey to the evil in the hills of shivers and shadows.

Frankie Novak had a charmed life until she was abducted and taken to a remote Alaskan wilderness. But the harsh landscape was only a small part of her challenges when there were four men hungry for more than just sustenance.

I have to admit I dreaded starting this book because of the length. I’m so glad it was worth it. The story was dark and engaging, with a good balance of suspense, sexiness, sadness, and humor.

“I’ll take any scrap you’re willing to throw my way. Scraps are better than nothing, because nothing is all I have.”

Each character had their appeal, no matter how misguided they might be. Wolf was my favorite right from the beginning. And I can’t help but admire Denver’s ingenuity in getting things his way.

Hills of Shivers and Shadows is a story of survival and unbreakable bonds. It would appeal to readers who enjoy forced proximity, dark romance.
