book quote

✏️ #FirstLineFriday: Verity by Colleen Hoover

“I hear the crack of his skull before the spattering of the blood reaches me.”

I think it’s apt for a book that plays with reader’s mind to start with such first line. I love books that make me feel “Wait… whaaat?!” and this one is one of very few that managed to do that.

Favorite Arts of 2018

In 2018 I decided to do something different with my teasers – multi layer images combo. There might be a name for the technique but I don’t know what it’s called lol!

I’ve been avoiding doing it for a long time because it’s time consuming not only with having to find multiple images but also requires a lot of editing for the different layers. But I ended up absolutely loving the ones I made. One of my favorite is A Reaper at the Gates teaser. I’ve also been doing more non human teasers which I actually prefer.

Below are some of my favorite teasers (in no particular order, out of 250+ total) I made for the year. Click image to see original source. For full list of teasers check out my Teasers 2018 album on Pinterest.

✏️ #FirstLineFriday: Griffin in Wonderland

When it comes to commanding readers’ attention, a character could either be lovable or completely annoying. For me, I’m attracted to characters that require a little more effort to love. I don’t like polite and proper heroes. Give me the dirty rebels that would make your grandmother clutches her pearls, I’ll choose them every single time. This short story featured Griffin Fiske who can be quite annoying but completely loveable.

✏️ #FirstLineFriday: EXP1RE

What a better time to talk about death on Friday the 13th right? Haha!
So I know some people refuse to talk about death but I used to have a morbid fascination with it. Well ok, maybe I still do…. lol!

In this very interesting book, the main character can see people’s date of death. Would you want to know when you’re going to die? I don’t and never did despite my fascination with death. I think it’s a lot of pressure knowing it. Ignorance is pure bliss in this case.

EXP1RE (EXP1RE Duet #1) by Erin Noelle
Amazon  |  Goodreads  |  Review

They haunt me.
I can’t look into a person’s eyes without seeing the six-digit date of their death.
I’m helpless to change it, no matter how hard I try.
I’ve trained myself to look down. Away. Anywhere but at their eyes.
My camera is my escape. My salvation. Through its lens, I see only beauty and life—not death and despair.
Disconnected from all those around me, I’m content being alone, simply existing.
Until I meet him.
The man beyond the numbers.
How can I stay away, when everything about him draws me in?
But how can I fall in love, knowing exactly when it will expire?
