ARC Review: Long Live the Beautiful Hearts by Emma Scott

Title: Long Live the Beautiful Hearts
Author: Emma Scott
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Type: Book 2 of 2 from Beautiful Hearts Series
POV: First Person – Dual
Publication Date: October 14, 2018

Never again would I allow my heart to become the plaything of someone else.
Never again would I let a man (or men) come between me and my goals.
Never again would I love without feeling the fullness of that love in return.
Not until I knew it was real. And if that took me a lifetime to find, so be it.

Those were my vows, and after all that had happened with Connor and Weston, I was determined to keep them. To protect my heart.
And then he came home, and my vows became his promises.

He held my heart in his hands with reverence and care.
He helped me find my soul’s greatest purpose in life.
He loved me with a love so pure and vibrant, I knew I’d never feel anything like it in a hundred lifetimes.
It was real.

Until it wasn’t.
Until it all came crashing down when I discovered the deep love I thought I’d found was nestled in a web of lies—so soft and silken I hadn’t noticed it was there.
Until it was too late.

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

Weston Turner and Connor Drake were best friends who always had each other’s back. When they both enlisted in the army, they knew the risks they’re willing to take. Autumn Caldwell cared for both of them but she was the one trapped in the middle and left to pick up the pieces.

I may have lied to her face but it was better than hurting her with the truth.

I love how this book tackled the subject of post war trauma in both physical and psychological form. It was sad to see how the characters had to cope from both sides of the situation. Their behaviors could be frustrating but understandable.

“Stay with him. And keep holding his hand, Autumn. No matter what happens. Don’t let go of him.”

What I loved the most about book 1 was the connection between the characters. However I felt that was lacking in this book due to certain situation that was not addressed thoroughly. The story direction was also predictable to me.

“These last few months have been the best of my life. You’re the reason I’m surviving.”

Long Live the Beautiful Hearts is the conclusion of Beautiful Hearts duet. It would appeal to readers looking for a story of rising up from the ashes.

Final Verdict:

Books in the series:
Bring Down the Stars (Beautiful Hearts, #1) by Emma Scott Long Live the Beautiful Hearts (Beautiful Hearts, #2) by Emma Scott Una Bella Anima (A Beautiful Soul, Beautiful Hearts Book 2.5) by Emma Scott

Emma Scott is a writer, marathon runner, and caffeine addict, who lives and writes in the California Bay Area. She has two smart, feisty little girls, a super-supportive husband, and is a demonstrated fan of the Oxford comma. She is also an unabashed Star Wars geek and comic book enthusiast who fell into romance novels when a writing contest prompt turned a 1000-word romantic story into a full-blown novel. She also writes epic fantasy that suffers an epic word count.

She hopes you enjoy her work, encourages readers to leave feedback, and thinks it’s amusing to write about herself in the third person. And if she has a driving force the fuels her work, it’s that love always wins.

. 📖 #CurrentlyReading: Long Live the Beautiful Hearts by #EmmaScott Coming October 18, 2018! . This is one of the weirdest vegetable I’ve seen. I don’t know what’s the actual name but the vendor at the farmers market call it sayur sawah – paddy field vegetable – because it grows wild there. It has soft spongy inside and we did a stir fry. It's almost like taro stalks but softer and not slimy lol! . . ★ Book Details ★ Goodreads: http://bit.ly/LLTBH_GR Blurb: Never again would I allow my heart to become the plaything of someone else.
