Review: Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma

Title: Forbidden
Author: Tabitha Suzuma
Genre: Literary Fiction
Type: Standalone
POV: First Person – Dual

Lochan (Lochie) and Maya Whitely were teenagers forced to grow up before their time. As the two eldest of five siblings, they took over responsibilities for the househole when their parents failed. While they started to depend on each other, feelings started to evolve into dangerous territory that could ruin their family that was already hanging by a thread.

‘There are no laws, no boundaries on feelings. We can love each other as much and as deeply as we want. No one, Maya, no one can ever take that away from us.’

After I finished this book on my first read, I knew immediately it’s going to be my favorite book ever. Four years later, it still reign on the pedestal.

I am a person coming undone. I am so disgusted with myself I want to crawl out of my own skin.

I love Lochie so much. He has debilitating issues and carried the weight of the world on his shoulders that made me want to shelter him. And despite all that, he was very conscientious and noble.

Before there was anything, there was Lochan. When I look back on my life, all sixteen and a half years of it, Lochan was always there.

Maya provided a good balance to Lochie’s personality. She was fun and caring, which made her the peacemaker of the family.

I adore each one of the siblings even those who seemed to be trouble. Their plight was heartbreaking and provided constant ache in my chest. Their love for each other and their siblings was unconditional, who are we to say it’s wrong?

‘How can something so wrong feel so right?’

Forbidden is a captivating tale of love and its consequences. It would appeal to readers who enjoy heavy, emotional taboo story.
