This job. Boring is too colorful a word for it. I’ve been escorting humans to the afterlife for millennia. I’m over it. But when you’re the son of the two greatest reapers of all time, reaping is in your blood. My latest appointment is with one Annabelle Lyric, a twenty-eight year old New Orleans party planner. Snoozefest. But there is one bonus to this assignment: it’s Halloween night. In New Orleans. And she’s attending a posh party whilst unaware of her impending demise. I’ve been tasked with taking Annabelle’s soul right after the masked ball. The good news? I’ll fit right in with all the costumed party goers. The bad news? That hits me when I realize Annabelle is much more than my next victim, she’s my fated mate.

Note: This is a short, sexy Halloween tale of true love.

ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Mathieu (Matt) has been a grim reaper for eons. Too long that it had become a mundane routine. But his latest assignment proved to be the hardest one yet.

Annabelle Lyric had no idea her time was quickly running out. When a mysterious stranger offered help in time of need, she didn’t think much of it. Until she found out she was his fated mate and he would do anything for them to stay together.

I don’t read a lot of paranormal, and certainly never on grim reapers so this one is definitely an interesting one for me.

I haven’t spent the last several boring millennia escorting souls to the afterlife—many of them to their final, ultimate happiness—just to sit back and watch my happiness get stolen away.

Matt was a sexy hulk of a man. He was highly alpha and intense. And most importantly passionate.

The way he looks at me, his reverent touches—I’ve never been treated like this in my life.

For a party planner who mingled with all sort of people, Annabelle was insecure. But Matt’s attention gave her courage to believe in herself.

She’s my mate, but she’s fated to die before the night is out.

I like it when a paranormal book is of an immortal and a mortal. The forbidden element made it more interesting.

Mathieu’s (yes I prefer his full name especially in throes of passion lol!) intensity translated well into the sex scenes. It’s the headboard smashing kind of hot haha!

“Life without you wasn’t worth it.”

The ending was somewhat sweet and showed that love has no boundaries and even grim reapers could use someone by their side.

Final Verdict:
